Trujillo is a monumental town in the province of Cáceres. It lies on top on a granite rock of outstanding beauty which towers over the plain in the middle of Extremadura. Trujillo has played an important role in the history of Spain and America being the home town of conquerors such as Pizarro, Orellana or García de Paredes and a great number of foot soldiers and soldiers on horse who created a equestrian tradition which still subsists. At present time Trujillo offers its visitors its history, its monuments, its renowned festivities such as the Chíviri, important Fairs such as the National Cheese Fair or the Cattle Fair along with a wide cultural programme throughout the year. The traditional cuisine offers tasty dishes such as the frite (lamb dish) migas (typical dish from Extremadura) or caldetera (lamb stew) On the other hand the nouvelle cuisine and the varied range of accommodation provided are both worth mentioning
